Legends of FC Sheriff. Part four. Cristian Tudor is a former Romanian football player who was known to fans for playing for our club and various Russian clubs. He played as a Central striker. Christian Tudor was forced to end his football career early due to health problems. Unfortunately, he was unable to recover and died of cirrhosis of the liver in 2012.
Christian Tudor was born on August 23, 1982 in Romania, where he played football at an Amateur level until he passed the screening at Gloria at the age of fifteen. Until 2000, he was in the club's system, playing for youth teams of various age categories, and when he turned 18, signed a professional contract with the club. Immediately after signing the contract the striker was sent for sale in the Italian "Pistoiese". When Tudor returned, he spent one season for glory, playing 9 games and scoring one goal. In the summer of 2002, it was time for the player to move on – Christian Tudor moved to Sheriff.
Christian won trophies only as a member of the "Sheriff". This period of his career was the most successful for the Romanian football player. He became the champion of Moldova three times, won the Moldovan Cup once and the Commonwealth Cup once. He played 28 games for Sheriff, scoring 18 goals. In the summer of 2003, Tudor was sent for a year on loan to Spartak Vladikavkaz - this is how he first got into the Russian championship. He spent a whole season there, returned to Moldova, played some more time, and at the end of the transfer window was sold to FC Moscow. He spent six months there before being loaned out again to Spartak Vladikavkaz.
Returning a year later, Tudor was transferred to the reserve team of the club, for which he played for one year, until his contract with Moscow ended in the winter of 2007. Then he took a year off to improve his health, and returned to football in 2008, signing a contract with FC Alania. It was still the same "Spartak" that he had spent two years in, but now it was called differently. After a year of diligent attempts to restore his career, Christian Tudor announced that he was retiring from big-time sports. He hung up his boots on a nail, as he realized that with his health, he would not be able to play at a high level.
Tudor was only 27 years old when he ended his career as a player, due to serious health problems. He threw all his energy into the treatment, which lasted for three years. However, on December 23, 2012, 30-year-old Christian died at home in Romania from cirrhosis of the liver.
Christian Tudor is now remembered by many – he was not a star footballer, did not represent a competitor to Messi or Ronaldo. But for his level, he perfectly coped with the tasks that were set before him. That is why he became the top scorer of the Commonwealth Cup in 2003 – thanks to his scoring abilities, Sheriff was able to win this trophy for the first time in its history. Unfortunately, Christian Tudor will not please anyone else with his goals scored and will not raise a new trophy won with the club.
