Legenda FCST. Serhiy Perkhun


Legends of FC Sheriff. Part twelve. Sergey Perkhun. We rated his career at our club with a rating of 82.


I was engaged in football from the age of 7. In 1993-1998, he played for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. In 1999-2000 — the main goalkeeper of our club, made a certain contribution to the victory of the first in the history of the club trophy of the Moldovan Cup in 1999. He spent the 2001 season with CSKA Moscow.


On August 15, 2001, he made his debut with the national team of Ukraine — in a friendly match with the national team of Latvia (1:0), Perkhun played the second half.


On August 18, 2001, in a game against Anzhi in Makhachkala, while going outside the penalty area, Perkhun collided with the head of striker Budun Budunov (who also suffered a serious injury (brain contusion), but not only survived, but also returned to big football). Initially, the condition of Perkhun did not cause concern. He received medical attention (stitches were applied to the head wound) and was sent by ambulance to the airport. But after 7 minutes, his condition deteriorated sharply and he went into cardiac arrest. After returning to the hospital, the heart stopped twice more. On August 19, after being examined by specialists, Perkhun was transferred to the Burdenko Institute of Neurosurgery in Moscow. Despite all the efforts of doctors, on August 28 at 5:30 am, the football player died from total brain edema.


He was buried on August 30 in Dnepropetrovsk, at the Zaporozhye cemetery. At the funeral of Sergei was attended by about 10 thousand people. A significant number of CSKA fans previously attended the farewell to Perkhun in Moscow, some flew to Dnepropetrovsk. The civil memorial service was attended by both Spartak fans and fans of other clubs. At the remaining matches of the CSKA season, fans displayed a huge T-shirt with the number and name of Perkhun in the stands.


In 2005, father Vladimir Sergeyevich Perkhun wrote the book "My son is a Goalkeeper".


A tournament in memory of Sergei Perkhun is regularly held in Dnipro, and a monument has been erected. In 2010, it was announced that the stadium "Guard" named after Sergei Perkhun will be built, which will operate a museum in memory of the goalkeeper.


The widow is Julia Perkhun. Daughters-Ekaterina (22.08.1999) and Anastasia (14.12.2001, born after the death of her father). Anastasia-singer, on September 10, 2016 at the new CSKA stadium before the opening match, performed the national anthem of Russia.
